[ November 30, 2010 6:30 pm to November 30, 2011 8:00 pm. ] CARE International and the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO) are partnering on a side event at UNFCCC COP-17 on November 30, 2011 from 6:30-8pm in the Hex River Room. This event will use an interactive discussion format to explore the complexities of vulnerability from a gender perspective and make recommendations to input into an adaptation framework that works for everyone.

New York– On January 1, 2011, UN Women—the new women’s empowerment and gender equality body that consolidates the four smaller women and gender agencies of the UN—officially became operational. Although UN Women has not received as much recognition as it deserves, it is one of the greatest achievements of the United Nations in the 21st Century.

New York– WEDO, as a founding member of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA) and coordinator of advocacy efforts at the UNFCCC, works closely with UN agencies, and other civil society organizations in our efforts to raise awareness on gender equality and the social dimensions of climate change.
