New York, April 21, 2010 — On Wednesday April 21st, WEDO particiated in a panel on ‘Financing Climate Change: Gender Equality’ in preparation for the ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review. The event was co-sponsored by UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the NGO Committee on the Status of Women/NY.
Hanoi/New York, June 9, 2010– From May 24th to 26th 2010, WEDO organized a three-day training of trainers on gender and climate change in Hanoi, Vietnam, in partnership with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). Approximately forty people took part in the training, including representatives from UN agencies, donors, line ministri…es, the National Assembly, the Viet Nam Women’s Union and national and international NGOs, to discuss linkages between gender and climate change and build the capacity of each individual to develop gender mainstreaming strategies in their respective areas of work.
New York, January 5 — Maria Otero, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs, discusses women and climate change in a short video available on YouTube. In her December 10 statement she notes that women are part of the solution to climate change and references a meeting she had with NGOs, including WEDO, during the UNFCCC COP15 in Copenhagen in December.

Hanoi/ New York, October 2009– The Gender and Governance team from WEDO held a meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam ensuring that a gender perspective is incorporated as part of the delivery of the One UN pilot project.
