New York, April 13, 2010 — WEDO will participate on an April 21st panel at the UN entitled Financing Climate Change: Gender Equality, with Cate Owren moderating and Rachel Harris addressing “What grass-roots women want: recommendations for action.” WEDO board member Soon-Young Yoon will speak on “Women in decision making: CEDAW and the Beijing Platform for Action.”

NEW! A Resource Kit: Climate Change Connections
New York–Climate Change Connections, a comprehensive resource kit on gender, population and climate change, was launched today by the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) and the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO).
The resource kit presents an overview of gender and climate change in the context of policy, finance, adaptation plans, best practices, and advocacy tools. It argues for a new convergence in thinking and practice that aligns the efforts of governments, aid organizations, and the general public, to ensure that women contribute to and benefit from equitable climate solutions.
UN Calls for Greater Role for Women in Climate Change Decision-making
New York, September 29– In a message to the high-level event on “Peace and Security through Women’s Leadership: Acting on 1325 and Climate Change,” organized in New York by Finland and Liberia, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on UN member States to give women a greater say in addressing climate change challenges as equal partners in global discussions.
