GEAR Campaign Launches Spoof Newspaper

New York, March 1 — The GEAR (Gender Equality Architecture Reform) Campaign for the new women’s entity at the UN has produced a spoof newspaper, The New Times for Women, to promote the campaign’s vision for the new ‘super agency’. The Europe Working Group led the project, launched at the opening of the Commission on the Status of Women meeting, and will be distributing thousands of copies at the UN during CSW this week. The paper’s editor Anna Elomäki said, “With this newspaper we want to raise awareness and call for immediate political action by governments and the UN Secretary-General.”
