EVENT: Gender at the Centre of Climate Compatible Development

Doha, Qatar (November 27, 2012)– Hosted by CDKN, WEDO’s Cate Owren will join a multi-stakeholder panel focused on the mainstreaming of gender within climate compatible development, its importance, the barriers to success, and the merits of existing strategies. We are pleased to invite you to CDKN’s networking and knowledge sharing event “Gender at the Centre of Climate Compatible Development” which will be held on Sunday 2 December from 6.30-8.30pm at the Ezdan Hotel & Suites, West Bay, Al Dafna, Doha, Qatar.

We would be delighted if you would join us and CDKN’s partners from around the world to debate gender and climate compatible development. The discussion will be followed by networking time. Refreshments will be provided.

The multi-stakeholder discussion will focus on the mainstreaming of gender within climate compatible development, its importance, the barriers to success, and the merits of existing strategies. The outcomes of this will inform new areas of focus and innovation for CDKN’s work so we look forward to hearing your views and recommendations.

We have invited speakers representing different perspectives to take part in an interactive discussion. We expect and will encourage audience participation.

  • Ms. Aira Kalela, Senior Adviser to Finnish Government on Climate Change and Gender
  • Dr. Sumaya Ahmed Zakieldeen, Least Developed Countries (LDC) representative to the Adaptation Committee under UNFCCC Framework
  • Ms. Mary Barton-Dock, Director of the Climate Policy and Finance Department at the World Bank
  • Mr. Matthew Wyatt, Head of Climate and Environment Group at the UK’s Department for International Development
